Privacy Policy — Amazon Reviews Extractor

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Amazon Reviews Extractor ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that extracts publicly visible Amazon product review content from pages you browse, so you can filter, browse, and export it.

What the extension accesses

When you open the extension on an Amazon product, search-results, or reviews page, it reads:

This is the same information already displayed to you by Amazon on the page — the extension does not access your Amazon account, order history, payment details, or any private account data, and it cannot see anything that isn't already rendered on the page in front of you.

What the extension does with that data

Planned future feature: AI summaries (not yet enabled)

A future "Summarize with AI" Pro feature is planned but not active in the current release (it is shown as "Coming soon" and is disabled). When enabled, using that specific feature will send the reviews you've extracted to our backend service, which forwards them to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate a summary, and returns the result to you. That data is not stored beyond what's needed to serve the request and a short-lived cache to avoid redundant calls. This policy will be updated with full details before that feature is enabled, and it will remain opt-in — you will only send data if you explicitly click "Summarize with AI."

Permissions

PermissionWhy it's needed
storageSave extracted reviews, your Extraction List, and preferences locally in your browser.
activeTabDetect the Amazon product on the tab you're currently viewing when you open the side panel.
tabsOpen a background (non-focused) tab to load a product's full reviews page for extraction; this tab closes automatically when extraction finishes.
scriptingInject the extension's review-reading code into Amazon pages so it can read review content already visible on the page.
sidePanelShow the extension's UI in Chrome's side panel so it persists across tab switches.
Host permissions (*.amazon.<tld>)The extension only operates on Amazon marketplace domains, where it detects products and reads review content.

Data retention and deletion

Extracted data lives in your browser's local/session storage and is cleared automatically when Chrome clears extension session storage, or immediately if you remove the extension. You can also clear it manually via chrome://extensions → Amazon Reviews Extractor → "Clear storage," or by uninstalling the extension.

Changes to this policy

If a future release changes what data is accessed or how it's used (for example, enabling the AI summary feature described above), this policy will be updated first, with the effective date revised above.
